Emergency Fund – $1000 – Stocked

House Fund – Goal $30,000.00 by 3/31/2013. This will cover the down payment, closing costs, as well as “sprucing up” the home to make it our own – aka, new furniture, paint, bedding, fencing for the backyard, swing set, etc. It will also be used to fix up our side of the duplex we are living in so it is ready for new renters.

  • Deposited $10.73 in spare change
  • Deposited $50 from a raffle (was part of a gift given to my husband for his birthday)
  • Deposited $50 from Swagbucks
  • Deposited $5.57 from Ebates
  • Deposited $183.70 in leftover income
  • Currently Saved $6160.75

The following are the other loans we currently have, but will put them on the back burner as we save for a house bigger than a 2-bedroom for our family of SIX 😀 We plan on keeping the duplex we currently own, and renting out the side we currently live in, thus earning more money each month that will pay these off for us 😀

Hubby’s Student Loan as of 10/01/2011 $9395

  • Outstanding Balance is $8,766.48

My Student Loan as of 10/01/2011 $6480

  • Outstanding Balance is $6,017.26

Family Loan $3000 – I was told to keep this and put this towards a new house, since the person doesn’t need this money right now 😀 Bonus 😀

Swag Bucks

Swag Bucks is a great way to earn FREE gift cards!  It’s one of the easiest to do.  You just use the Swag Bucks search engine and every couple of searches, you’ll win Swag Bucks!  Save them up for FREE Amazon gift cards, or Barnes and Noble, or Paypal CASH!  Last year Swag Bucks paid for nearly 3/4 of our Christmas presents!  How nice would that be – 3/4 of your gifts would be literally FREE!

Just click on the icon above to get started and follow their instructions.  It’s very easy.

Bonus – sign up your friends and you get matching Swag Bucks for their first 1000 Swag Bucks won!  There are other ways besides the search engine/tool bar to win Swag ucks – you can do surveys, print coupons (PRINT COUPONS!) and watch videos.  Without referals, I still think you can easily get $5-$10/month just doing searches yourself, not including all the other ways.

Kohl's Run 11-23-2012

I’m not normally a Black Friday Shopper, mostly due to the four little kids and Hubby’s at work kind of situation.  But Hubby and I both received a $10 off a $10 purchase, and so did my mom, who wasn’t going to be able to use her coupon while it was valid.  So, just before midnight, I headed up there.  Those people are NUTS to stand in line in the freezing cold for hours on end to save some money.  But that’s just my opinion!  haha 🙂

I did 2 transactions, and got the above items – 2 Star Wars Fighter Pods – for 53c each, including tax 🙂  I had another item, but it fell below the $10 minimum (it was marked incorrectly), so I just said skip it and I handed it to the first person I knew while I left the store 🙂  I got thru the front door just a few minutes after midnight, and I was at home by 12:35.  I “shopped” Kohl’s before the sale, so I knew which items I wanted and where they were located, so I could get in and out of there ASAP.

CVS Run 11-22-2012

I hit up CVS again this week for their “Thanksgiving Sale”.  Here’s what I got…

Whoa, sorry about how blurry it is!

8 Holiday M&Ms $2.50 each

2 Carmex Lip Care clearanced at 41c each

7 Children’s Advil clearanced at 63c each

1 CVS Batteries $3.65

2 CVS Flossers $2 each

2 GUM Toothbrush 2 packs $2.50 each

1 Cheerios $2.87

1 Philips Earbuds $6.99

Total $47.74 (I actually had Duracell batteries on here for $14.79 to get the ECBs, but they didn’t ring up right, so I returned them the next day.  But they helped put me over the $50 mark to use an extra coupon)

Used $10/$50 CVS coupon

Used 4 – $1//2 M&Ms coupons

Used 2 – 30c off Carmex coupons

Used $3 off Duracell Batteries

Used 4 – $1 off Children’s Advil (By buying 7 of them at 63c each, their system took the full dollar amount off instead of reducing it, so I got 7 for 41c after the coupons!)

Used all ECBs from earlier this week $40.17

New Total $1.76 + tax

I returned the batteries and got $15.88 back

I received $29.64 in ECBs for next time!

  • Counter offering failed.  I’m so disappointed right now I don’t even want to look at other houses.  I pray the offer they are negotiating with falls through so they go for our offer 🙂
  • Deposited $200 in leftover income.  We are out of town and unable to deposit other moneys 🙂  And we decided to donate extra money to two different charities that have been on our hearts to do.
  • Currently Saved $5,860.75

Turkey Sugar Cookies

These were really easy and fun to make with the family!

I bought Pillsbury Sugar Cookie Dough from the store and prepared it per the instructions.  I also cheated and used store bought frosting.  I Kept a bit of the white frosting, just enough to do little dots for the eyes on the cookies.  The rest I added orange food coloring to it.

I used the orange frosting to make the beaks and feet.  Then I put a line of orange frosting across the top where the “feathers” go – candy corn.

My kids thought it was fun to create their own “Turkeys”…

And Hubby had to make one of his own…

Rice Krispie "Pumpkins"

These are perfect for Halloween or Thanksgiving time!  My friend, Amanda, made these…

Make the Original Rice Krispie Treats. I would add orange food coloring to the mix before you add the Rice Krispies until it’s a shade of orange you like.

Instead of pressing the mixture into a pan, roll a portion of the mix into the size “pumpkin” you desire.

Use a mini Tootsie Roll as a stem.
