Halloween Costume – Hobo

on October 1, 2012

With four children, Halloween can be quite costly if we chose to buy all brand new costumes right before Halloween.  I’m always on the lookout for sales, looking through racks at the Thrift Stores in town, or I have borrowed costumes in the past from friends.  But if none of these are in your budget or you have no friends to borrow from, homemade costumes can be fun!

When our oldest son was younger, we made him into a Hobo.  It was so easy and so cute – he won the costume contest at church that year!

What You’ll Need:

1.  A cute kid.

2.  Flannel shirt

3. Overalls/jean bibs

4. Dark eyeshadow – black or brown

5.  A stick

6. Hankerchief

7. Tissues/Toiletpaper

I just took my blush brush and made a “5 O’clock shadow on my son’s face” with the dark eyeshadow I had.

I put toilet paper all scrunched up and put that in the middle of a hankerchief.  I then tied the hankerchief to the end of a stick.  My son carried this.  I’m sorry I don’t have a picture of it, I cannot find it.  Otherwise, take the hankerchief and have it sticking out of the back pocket of the overalls.
